Screveton (pronounced locally “Screveeton” or “Screeton”) is an English parish and village in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, with about 100 inhabitants.
Screveton may contain the Old English word scīr-rēfa for a sheriff or the king’s executive, + tun (Old English), an enclosure; a farmstead; a village; or an estate, so probably “Sheriff’s farm/settlement”.
